Since the 1990's, various domestic and imported brands and various types of products have entered the supermarket, which can be divided into three generations according to their development and functions: respectively called as Class 1, Class 2 and 3 Class cash register. Followings are the introductions of them one by one:

The first generation: Category 1 cash register

Second generation: Category 2 cash registers

Third Generation: Category 3 cash registers.

This category is also known as PC-BASE cash registers. The general hardware is based on the basic computer components, adopting the international norms with high standardized procedures. Because the application environment is complex, the requirements of its anti-interference capability, durability and so on are much higher than general computer. Whether the first category machines, or the second category machines or third category machines, the ordinary business cash registers or special cash registers are mostly designed based on the industry management requirements, and their functions are set to meet the use of the business process and usage habits of different industries. Cash registers used in shopping malls and supermarkets: the most majority of shopping malls and supermarkets use many second or third category cash registers to realize purchase, sale and inventory management with background work station and servers. Different cash registers have different network structures; the commodities management amount is among thousands to ten thousands, and applied management software isn’t the same. Choice determination should be based on the basis of the size of the operations, management requirements and fund status.
